Premier League 2024/25: Mikel Arteta Confirms Jurrien Timber’s Imminent Return for Season Opener
In view of the oncoming Premier League 2024/25 seasons, Arsenal fans will no doubt be very much pleased to learn that Jurrien Timber will make his way back into first-team training next week. This Dutch defender did not take part in recent matches with Lyon at the Emirates Stadium due to minor injury reasons, especially after his major involvement with Arsenal during the pre-season tour of the United States.
Arsenal wrapped up their pre-season campaign with a classy 2-0 win over Lyon, scoring both goals via corners in the first half. Mikel Arteta, Arsenal boss, was pleased with his team’s display, which is an excellent pointer ahead of their opening Premier League match against Wolves.

However, in contrast to the encouraging news regarding Timber, there are some other worrying injuries at Arsenal. Both Fabio Vieira and Takehiro Tomiyasu were absent during the game with Lyon, too. While Timber is going to recover soon, Tomiyasu’s knee injury will further stay him away from the action for many weeks. On Tomiyasu, Arteta said, “It will take weeks on that one, unfortunately. He is going to have to be patient.”
Fortunately, though, for Arsenal, they are well-loaded with regard to the left-back position. Oleksandr Zinchenko looks to be coming into peak form ahead of the new campaign, while Riccardo Calafiori made an impressive Emirates debut to offer additional competition at left-back.
Although Arsenal has had a decent pre-season—winning three, drawing one, and losing one of their five matches—the Premier League is just a few days away, so there seems to be air of eagerness on the part of fans to see Jurrien Timber back in action and for an exciting season ahead.
